STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE – TAP OFF BOX PPM

             OBJECTIVE:

To establish a procedure for operation and maintenance of Tap-off box.

 

POLICY:

The Tap-off box operation shall be carried out in safe, smooth, trouble free without affecting the occupants with reduced down time.

 

RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Shift Engineer

 

 

PROCEDURE:

 

·        Put OFF the supply where you want to carry out the work.

·        Make sure LOTO device should applied for energy source.

·        Provide a board “Men at work do not switch on”.

·        Ensure you are standing on an insulating rubber mat/ Electrically insulated surface required

·        Make sure all PPE’s are equipped while working.

·        Have proper tools like insulated plier, test lamp, tester, wire stripper, and fuse puller.

·        Ensure conductor is dead before handling it.

·        Inspect locking devices for signs damage or worn.

·         Clean thoroughly, vacuum, and full visual inspection of exterior and interior of all LV Panel/switchboards.

·        Verify control circuit fuse rating and continuity.

·        Check and torque test bolted electrical connections as necessary to specified levels.

·        Visual inspection for signs of overheating or deterioration take thermography if required.

·        Final visual inspection to insure all clear after work completed.

·        Inspection of all panels for paint work damage and signs of corrosion.

 

After Carry out the maintenance.

·        Before charging the supply, ensure that no tools are left inside the panel.

·        Close the doors of the panel.

·        Leave the workplace only after satisfactory trial.

·        Frequency for preventive maintenance of the low-tension panel is once in a six month.

·        Ensure breaker in proper position inside the panel.

·        Check incoming voltage between R-Y, Y-B and B-R on the voltmeter provided, it should be 415 to 430 or 230 to 240 volts wherever applicable.

·        At any job motto should be safety first.

·        In case of any major problem, inform the Facility Manager immediately.

 

 

REVISION GUIDE:

Any change in the systems will need a change in the SOP.
