STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE – NEW ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION AND POWER SUPPLY PROVISION
OBJECTIVE:
To establish a procedure for new electrical installation and power supply provision.
POLICY:
The new electrical installation and power supply provision shall be carried out in safe, smooth, trouble free without affecting the occupants with reduced down time.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Shift Engineer
Work safety
· Activity should be carried out by only authorized personnel only.
· Put OFF the supply where you want to carry out the work.
· Make sure LOTO device should applied to energy source.
· Ensure you are standing on an insulating rubber mat/ Electrically insulated surface.
· Make sure all PPEs are equipped while working.
· Have proper tools like insulated plier, test lamp, multimeter, wire stripper, and fuse puller.
· Ensure conductor is dead before handling it.
· At any job motto should be safety first.
· In case of any major problem, inform the Facility Manager immediately.
PROCEDURE:
Checking of a requirement:
· Before starting activity preplanning and work SLD diagram should be studied with all aspects.
· Check the total power requirements from the device.
· Check if the device voltage and frequency ratings are as per input supply rating.
· Check device dimensions and allocated space, should be matching
· Check if any pre-protection device is required to install.
Procedure:
· Prepare required materials
· Observe procedures, specifications and manual of instructions.
· Interpret technical drawings and plans.
· Perform measurements and calculations.
· Maintain tools and equipment’s.
· Install wiring devices for floor and ground fault interrupting outlets.
· Install electrical protection system for the device.
· Check all the connections and cable should be dressed properly in cable conduits.
· Check all connections for continuity.
· Remove all tools and material after completion of work.
· Precheck all the connections as per the plan.
· Charge the line and take electrical measurements.
· Submit the report after completions of activity.
REVISION GUIDE:
Any change in the systems will need a change in the SOP.
