STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE - CARPENTRY WORK

 Objective- 

To establish a procedure for Carpentry Work.

 

POLICY:

Proactively identify, correct, and report defects and damages to reduce down time and risk of failure of the equipment’s and assets.

 

RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Shift Engineer

 

 

GENERAL SAFETY TIPS

       Safety glasses with side shields must be worn at all times.

       Do not wear loose clothing, loose neckwear or exposed jewelry while operating machinery.

       Do not work alone in a machine shop.

       Long sleeves on shirts should be rolled up above the elbows.

       Pull back and secure long hair.

       Required to wear Safety shoes all time.

       Always keep hands and other body parts a safe distance away from moving machine parts, work pieces, and cutters.

       Use hand tools for their designed purposes only.

       Report defective machinery, equipment, or hand tools to the Technician.

 

Painting work:

 

       Before start of painting, check if there is any crack/hole on wall.

       Prepare fresh putty paste and apply same in crack/hole.

       Allow putty to dry.

       After drying, rub the surface to make the surface smooth and plain.

       Apply primer and the paint as per requirement.

 

Flooring work:

       Check damages/cracks on the floor and coving.

       In case of epoxy flooring, open the crack and remove the epoxy layer from

floor/coving.

       Prepare the surface where the epoxy layer is to be applied.

       Prepare fresh epoxy mortar and lay the same on the floor/coving.

       Allow to soak for 24 hours.

       In case of tile or stone flooring, remove the tiles or stones and replace the

same with new tiles/stones.

Door and window repairing:

       Check the door accessories for any loosening and for any other breakage.

Rectify if found faulty.

       Check the door closures and adjust the speed if required.

       Check handles and identify any loose fitting.

       Check sealing of glass for intactness. Fill with sealant if gaps are

observed.

       Check the glass of doors/windows for intactness. Replace if any cracks

found.

 

 

REVISION GUIDE:

Any change in the systems will need a change in the SOP.
